Fantasy Wedding Faire

The American Heart Association Fantasy Wedding Faire was this last Sunday. We were luckily able to set up the day before, which takes a lot of the stress of the day off. We set up different than we did at the Bridal Expo, getting the idea from our friend Michael Imus. (You can see his website at www.michaelimus.com) He has really helped us out a lot. We were able to go to the champagne reception on Friday night (thank you Stephanie for watching Iris) and got to meet some of the other vendors. Oddly enough we sat next to other photographers and videographers. What are the odds that we would all choose to sit at the same table? Evan got a Sonicare toothbrush and a $50 gift card to Scolari's in the bill-by-bill auction. Only spent $11 for the both.

The wedding faire itself was a lot of fun. We met so many nice people and got a lot of information out. (Thank you to Mom for watching Iris.) So now we get to see if we made enough of an impression to have people call us. We were next to two other photographers so that was a little hard, but I think if people like our work they will go with us. We also made some good contacts with other vendors. So many wonderful people. I'm glad it's over, but I'm also glad that we did it.

Iris update

So Iris now has two teeth. Yeah for her, ouch for mom. She has also learned how to wave hi and bye. I'm going to see if I might be able to post a video clip of her on here. If I can figure it out. She has really taken a liking to her sippy cup. As you can see in the picture, she just kicks back and sucks on it.

wedding faire update

We finally got the mats for the pictures we are hanging up at the wedding faire. So we worked on getting those done this morning. If we can be as successful with this wedding faire as we were with the Bridal Expo, we'll be doing good. This one doesn't seem as stressful since we got our first one out of the way. We have our good friends, Tom and Kandice, watching Iris during the faire. They are expecting a little boy in May and their little 5 year old, Mya, thinks they are going to name him Iris. I like it.

Just another manic monday

Happy birthday to Chanse!! Can't believe he's 22. That means I'm old. I'm editing the pictures Evan took on Saturday up at Tahoe City. These are just a few. I should have them on the website today. It is snowing a little today. I was getting used to the snow melting. It never melted all the way from last time. Oh well. We could use the precipitation. I'm also going to try and put some more pictures on here. We'll see how that goes.

Our friends, Matt and Janessa, had thier little baby early this morning. Kaedyn Matthew. We might go see them this afternoon. I am babysitting today for my friend, Leslie. Her boy, Killian, is almost the same age as Iris. Makes for a fun day. She is actually going to cut my hair today in return for watching him last week. I love bartering.

It's still a little wierd to write 2008. Yesterday we met with some really nice people who are getting married in August. They decided to go with us, so that was good. Tomorrow we are going to Tahoe City to take some engagement pictures for a different couple. And then Saturday we are going to take some pictures for a band that is playing at one of the little lounges out here in Lemmon Valley. One of the guys in the band is also the groom in a wedding we are photographing in July.

My First Blog

So I'm new at this. I guess we just talk about what is going on. Right now we are trying to get everything ready for the Wedding Faire on the 27th. Not as much to do as the first one, so we're not quite as stressed out. We've been meeting with a lot of people this week to get their weddings booked for this year.

I think we're finally done painting in the house. It looks so good! Like a whole new house. We just need to get pictures hung back on the walls and we're good to go.

Iris just woke up from her nap so I'll have to write more later.
